Family Engagement 2.0: How to Deepen School-Home Partnerships with Emozi®
Families want to support their children’s character growth. But too often, the communication from schools is one-way and generic.
Emozi® helps schools move from “informing” to “partnering.” With tools that are consistent, meaningful, and easy to use, schools can create a bridge between the classroom and home that makes character development a shared journey.
Here’s how to reimagine family engagement with Emozi®.
1. Create Predictable Touchpoints- Family units thrive on consistency.
Use Emozi®’s Home Connection Letters after each lesson
Include 1–2 simple questions families can ask at home
Share language students are learning (like Ollie’s Wise Choices/STAR/SCOPE/SCOPE-IT strategy or Feelings Check-In)
Why it works: Predictability builds trust. Families know what to expect and how to engage.
2. Invite Families Into the Learning-When families understand the why, they can support the how.
Share short videos or snapshots of Emozi® lessons from our Parent Hub
Include a "Try This at Home" strategy with real examples
Send out our Emozi® Home Connection Letters
Highlight a monthly character focus in school newsletters
Why it works: When families see the purpose, they’re more likely to reinforce the practice.
3. Gather Family Feedback—and Act On It. Engagement is a two-way street.
Use short pulse surveys to ask what families notice at home
Include a feedback box at events or parent-teacher conferences
Ask for suggestions on how to improve the school-home connection
Reach out to your school’s Character Champion to get our Emozi® Parent’s Night Presentation
Why it works: Listening deepens respect. Families feel seen and valued.
4. Celebrate Family Contributions. Families are partners, not just recipients.
Spotlight stories of family character, traditions, or routines
Invite parents to share how they teach respect, empathy, or resilience
Recognize community service or kindness shown outside of school
Why it works: Celebrating families builds a sense of shared ownership.
5. Align on Shared Goals. Character development is most effective when supported on all fronts.
Co-create behavior expectations or class norms with family input
Share school values in family-friendly language
Host a Character Night where students teach families what they’ve learned
Why it works: Alignment reduces confusion and strengthens the message.
